Hi Alison
Thanks for sorting the half pig out for me. I enjoyed butchering it on Sunday and I have to say that the joint I cooked on Sunday night was fantastic.
The leg is swimming in a cider brine ready for a gammon feast for some friends in May and the shoulder and back fat are just waiting for me to find the time to re-stock my meat safe in my birch tree with fresh salami and chorizo. I will have to do this again . I really fancy having an air dried ham in my safe for a year or two to see how it develops but that needs to be put in salt in September. Will you have any pigs available then?
Regards,Kevin
Boar for Hire

Boris is a heavily spotted Gloucester Old Spot. I have had him since he was 8 weeks old and know him well. He is a very patient and gentle boar and excellent with the younger pigs at any age. The little ones can get in to see him and often settle in with him for a snooze or to share his food.
He is proven and keen on his job! Boris knows his name and will come when he is called, especially if you are holding a bucket of food.
He is a very big, heavy pig so you will need a strong trailer if you are going to collect him. You will also need strong accomodation as he does not mean to cause any destruction; he just needs to have a good scratch on a fence post now and again.
Boris can be hired out for £25 per sow.

Hook Farm Home Page

Welcome to our Hook Farm site. This is an umbrella site for all that we do here. The tabs at the top cover everything that happens and each page will tell you about a particular subject, with a link to the site that specialises in that area. For example the Chickens tab gives you an idea about the chickens we have here and gives you a link to our chickenkeeper site which covers everything you could want to know about chickens, courses, hen houses, advice and a lot more.
When we came here in 2005, there was landscaped garden and a summer house. Since we have moved in we have installed pig pens, many chicken pens, rabbit and guinea pig cages and turned the summer house into a shop. We have put the farm back into Hook Farm and are proud of it.

We are passionate about what we do and want to encourage as many as people as possible to keep chickens, or even pigs and enjoy the taste of fresh eggs and meat from the garden. We run a number of courses to give you the necessary skills so have a look at smallholding skills website to see what you might be interested in. We have started a new knife skills course, which will stand you in good stead in the kitchen no matter where the food comes from!
We very much look forward to meeting you soon.
